Bike helmet as hand luggage

Three weeks ago, I flew long-haul from Melbourne to Granada, Spain, via Singapore, London Heathrow and Madrid, carrying my Arai lid in a soft drawstring helmet bag in addition to my other hand luggage: a backpack and laptop.

I flew Qantas/BA/Iberia and went through screening procedures four times - not once did anyone query the helmet, except one security bloke in Singapore who asked: "Dirt bike or cruiser?" when he saw the helmet-shaped bag. :biggrin3:

All good on the planes too: I stuck it under the seat between my feet, smothered in the airline blanket for protection!

Yep, I've been OK with packing helmet in compact helmet rucksack and just stuffing other carry on items, camera etc, inside the helmet.
I'd do my utmost to avoid having helmet carried in the hold.
