Don't Panic
There has recently been a lecture delivered via the BBC TV concerning the world population.
The gist of it can be found through the link:- BBC Two - This World, Don't Panic - The Truth About Population There is a range of themes therein, but as a statistician the presenter demolishes quite a few of the popular perceptions of how things are in the world today; for instance, he contends that - ""The "developed" and "developing" worlds have gone"" - which is just one of the underlying themes within his one hour lecture. ( abstracted from BBC News - Viewpoint: Five ways the world is doing better than you think ). Truly, it is food for thought and gives the lie to much of the wailing and nashing of teeth associated with pessimistic doom-mongers about the future of mankind. The main link above is likely to become non-functional with time, so this one may be more durable:- OU on the BBC: Don't Panic – The Truth About Population - OpenLearn - Open University As I say, food for thought; comment?? |
