Connecting flight nightmare. Will I make it ?

Iv just booked a flight from Manchester to Buenos Aires through Travelbag.

I paid up and got the flight details through. Now, im really worried about the connecting flights.

I have just 55 minutes between when my plane lands in Paris and when the next one takes off to Buenos Aires.

Is it just me or is that an impossible window ?

They said that its a valid connection and all flights are non-refundable and non ammendable.

The flights to buenos aires only go once a day and I have to meet someone in BA airport so cant be late, especially by a whole day or more.

Am I screwed ???

Possitive side is that both flights are at the same terminal and I only have hand luggage.

Security at CDG can take hours in itself. If my plane is just 10 mins late to land, then I wont make the next one :confused1:

I have not done that route, but have travelled to the states on many occasions with simialr crazy link times, and missed the connection. The airline then just checks you onto the next available flight. They seem to do this so that they have a chance of clearing standby passengers IMO

I've also missed such connections; one way is by crossing a time change without anyone, including me, calculating that in the timings.
Europe time will be ahead of the UK by 1 hour, so you may have -5 minutes!

Change the timing of the cheap connecting flight?

davidmc 27 Sep 2007 21:33

Get a seat near the exit of the plane so you can be off in a hurry!

The times are in local times so I know that I have about an hour between flights.

The next flight is the day after and most probably fully booked. They best be putting me on business class if I miss it because of their crap timing.

Every day i am late then an extra days charge on my shipping storage and ill also miss my rendezvous :(

I tried to get an earlier flight but they said £200 to change :(

Take a deep breath ... and .... now... relax.
My last few weeks before leaving the UK had been a blur and lots of stuff turned a nightamre (liek being refused entry in my conencting flight, in Madir - long story!) but in the end all got resolved.

I have had connecting flights of 55 mins to go to SA (via Holland) in the past and all went fine.
Your luggage may not follow the same day though so pack an overnight pack with you but 55 mins should be ok for you unless your flight is severely delayed.

And if you miss it... there is nothing you can do right now, just worry when it happens, if it happens....

Walkabout 28 Sep 2007 00:28

No worries

Why worry anyway -- Manana -- S America aclimatisation starts on the flight.

Drink Red Bull and you will be OK .

The things that are in your favor include the fact that it is a legal connection, it is the same terminal, you only have hand luggage, and I assume that you are connecting through on the same airline.

The things working against you is that you are connecting in France, birthplace of the term "laissez faire". On any given day there is a 50/50 chance that someone will be on strike.

That connection is usually plenty of time and typically the airline will try it's best to help you make it. They go out of their way for connecting passengers and typically will not even give away your seats if the next flight is oversold. Remember they announce boarding early but don't actually close the doors until very soon before the flight departs. Unfortunately a lifetime of being late for flights will teach a person that :)

Thanks for the reassurance guys...

My friend is a pilot for BA and when I told him I have 55 mins between flights he said

"your never gonna make that, air France are always late"

I guess what happens, happens !!

CDG is the most annoying place to get around ... spend the first flight memorising the route to the next gate & make a run for it ... I have a horrible feeling you won't be landing from Manchester & leaving for BA from the same terminal ..

As for French ground staff; don't yell, shout or get up tight - they respond well to 'what would you do in my situation' .. and try to speak a few words of French to break the ice, or they might be a bit icy with you!

Bonne courage!

Kira

Well, i've since learnt that I will be arriving and landing in the same terminal (2).

Also learnt that you should NEVER book flights with travel bag as they are total unhelpful arse holes who leave you on hold to India for 3 hours just to tell you its a £250 admin charge to change flights...

nice !!!!!!!!!

I forgot to add, I guess that you are flying with Aerolineas Argentinas from Paris to BA (via MAdrid?) . I took it few times (to go from Paris to Madrid) and as this flight arrives from Argentina 1st, it was every time severely delayed (up to 4 hours!) . Don´t worry too much. see you in BA.
