Brazil Visa at Border Crossing with Paraguay

A US Citizen needs a visa to visit Brazil. I'm currently in Panama flying myself and my bike to Colombia in a couple of days

Question: Can I just go apply for a Brazil Visa at the Border Crossing with Paraguay?

Or, do I have to apply for a Brazil Visa at their Embassy or Consulates office?

Another friend did apply for a Brazil Visa at the border with Paraguay but that was ten years ago and he is not sure if they still issue a visa at the border nowadays.

Thanks so much and hope to hear from anyone.

There is a brazil consulate in Iguazu in Argentina - not at the border though - that can issue visas for Brazil.
We recently got our visa for Brazil in Lima at the Embassy. Took a few days to process. For Australians, getting a visa at the border is not possible. Same with a visa to Paraguay, can't be obtained at a land border.

US citizens may have a different deal as applies getting into Bolivia.

Thanks Tony.

I went to the Brazil Embassy in Bogota but it will take at least 10-14 Working Days. With the Holy Week approaching I will be stuck here for more than two weeks.

I will try Iguazu maybe they can expedite my visa application.

Thanks so much.

Iguazu was two days. Application filled in online, copy of bank statement or credit card statement to show funding, passport photos with pure white background or the little shit will send you to his mate's store to get new photos done - which then will also not have white backgrounds which he will complain about and want to send you back for another go, so then you also bring your laptop open at the Brazil Embassy guidelines with sample photos which will make him pull his head in.
Took 2 days for us.

I've got the gps coordinates somewhere

Took us 5 days at Lima to get our latest visa because we are going in via the Amazon. No expedited service available. Apply in the mornings, Pick up in afternoons - quite limited hours.

The account at http://www.thisbatteredsuitcase.com/...-iguazu-falls/ tallies with our experience (apart from the photo nitpicking of course)
In place of outward tickets, we had to show him all of our vehicle documentation.

Don't forget that Iguazu is in Argentina and so you might be hit with reciprocity fee if it applies to you.

In Lima the embassy is very close to the Hitchhikers Backpackers hostel which is in a very pleasant part of the city

Consulate is at Avenida Cordoba 278 3370 Puerto Iguazu (corner with El Mensu)
