Bike Storage in Chile or Argentina
Hi all.....does anyone know how long you can legally store a bike in Chile or Argentina for?

"store" and "store legally" are not necessarily the same - but we twice stored our vehicle for nearly 8 months in Argentina. Truck is to be lucky enough, or pushy enough to get the 8 month TVIP because some crossings are only inclined to give 3 months
Uruguay is normally the preferred place because they have a 12 month system and since the great mass confiscation a couple of years ago, their system seems to have stabilised. Have heard of Chile having a system similar to Peru where you arrange a local to store your vehicle and get official permission from customs to suspend the TVIP for many months. We did that in Peru for about 8 months |
Thanks Tony....did you buy bikes over there or did you freight from OZ?

Yep worked that out after i looked at his blog stuff PD

We bought both vehicles in south America, but in both cases we were able to get them registered in our name back home.
Have seen bikes stored in all the locations I mentioned |
