Best time of year to ride mongolia

I was planning to ride across mongolia in August. Is this a good time of year. Because I see a lot of people are setting off earlier..

It's as good as it gets. September starts to get chilly in the north.

Before my trip I read that June and July are drier than August. I was there in August of 2013 and it rained almost every day, although I heard that it was generally a very wet summer.
