Best country to buy a bike

Hi.
I'm in the early stages (Giving it some thought) of planning a trip around Europe. I'm from South Africa and don't want to ship a bike all the way to Turkey, where I plan to start. Bikes here are relatively cheap, but shipping is $$$$$

Which is the best country to buy a decent bike in Europe. Something like KLR650, DR650, Africa Twin etc. thinking about cost, registration, licensing etc.
I am on a UK passport if that makes any difference, mind you with Brexit, I might be better off on my South African one!

Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

If you speak good German or French, you may find good bikes there for a bit less than the UK, but in my experience, not much of an advantage given paper work hassle, language and getting bike registered and insured in your name.

Since your on UK passport should be easy to to get a bike in UK, just take your time and shop around before you arrive. Set up some viewings and test rides well ahead.

I found good deals both in dealers and private parties. Ended buying from
private party but could have done just as well at some good dealers. Haggling much easier in your native language and paperwork/insurance easy too if you have a local address to provide in UK. (I did)

Shop around, compare prices. Good hunting. bier
