we have had this problem too.
when back in uk last year we switched from nationwide to santander zero account.

we gained 5% interest for 12 months and 100 quid cash incentive > both very appealing.

but best is that ALL use of debit card is completely free of any charges.

we only use the debit card and operate by pulling cash from a banks atm.
has worked perfect 95% of time.

internet banking works nicely [ even on kindle ]

only problem we had was a bank debited our account but hadnt paid us our pesos.
telephoned santander two weeks later when we noticed.
santander credited the amount back into our account within 36 hrs.
