You will definitely need insurance. Im not sure about how temporary cover works here for visitors on foreign plates,il be guessing its extortionate as our insurance companies are run by a corrupt cartel. Try email my insurer, they are the best out of a bad bunch. https://ireland.carolenash.com/

Yes you do need liability insurance to be legal on the roads. My experience is British insurance companies won't touch Australian registered bikes. I get European wide coverage from Motocamp in Bulgaria. I have used them multiple times and always get good service - just make sure you give then a week or two notice from the required start date. Email is motocampbg@yahoo.com.

There is at least one other company called Lagoba (or something similar) also offer the same service. Search this site and you will find their details. I haven't used them so can't comment personally on the service but friends who did had nil issues.

Hope this helps.

UK Insurance.

As someone who has insured a U.K. bike in Australia, doing it the other way around shouldn’t be a problem. I used to insure americans riding u.k. bikes hired to them and used a company called Devitt DA. They insure a lot of bike businesses in the UK.

AT the moment insurance valid for one EU country is valid for all.

If the UK drops out of the EU at the end of October, without any agreement on such matters as has been promised by the UK prime minister, then EU insurance may not be valid in the UK, unless you have a “Green Card” which extends your UK insurance to those countries nominated in the green card.

One of the many uncertainties of Brexit.
