Spring Weather in Russia this year (2010)
 

After a particularly cold and snowy winter, weather reports in Russia are warning of widespread flooding as the snow and ice melts during spring. This could continue on till June in colder areas.

I can tell you right now, its still freezing. I am in Astana, Kazakhstan and it is -5C (23F).

Should become positive later this week.

Well, that's good I won't be there for a while then. Probably mid June.

Has it been a big snow year in Tajikistan and Kyrgyz Rep. as well as in Russia?

I've been hearing reports lately all over BBC and US news about the devastation in Mongolia (Ulan Batar region) due to a super cold Winter and how most all the live stock of the people has died off. They've got nothing, no other way to survive. Most have lost about 80% to 90% of their animals and the animals continue to die. Does not look good at all for these folks.

Have you heard much about this?

I'm hoping the International community steps up here to provide some relief.
