Would only use ATM's inside banks etc. may bring 2 prepaid cards and transfer to them as needed

Read on line: only four banks are stopped to Visa and Mastercard: Rossiya, Sobinbank, SMP Bank e InvestKapitalBank.
All other credit institute are authorized to all credit cards

Say is all quiet! ATM are workin' good, may be just some problem to pay with credit card, but are rare cases ;) ;)

ATM worked ok at least in St.Petersburg last week and reservation/advance fee charged from internet hotel reservation in booking.com by hotel charged from my MasterCard worked ok. That was ofcourse internet booking so i cant say fully, 100% that if it would have worked in some shops but i did see people paying with creditcards in shops and restaurants.

My Visa Debit cards worked so far. Oddly I went to add some money to my megafon sim and both cards declined.

check with your bank, they may have put a stop on your cards due to the unusual activity
