Road conditions and beer in Turkey?
Hello
Can I travel the major routes in Turkey with a road bike or do i need an off roader? (Don't want to wreck my shiny road bike) More importantly, can you get a beer in the remote western parts. Ta Ash |
Ash
I’m not sure where you mean by the remote west but you can get beer in Turkey. In fact, the most popular, Efes Pilsen, is brewed in the west at Izmir. Turkey has 147,404 km of what the CIA Factbook calls paved roads so I think you’ll be fine on your road bike. Turkey is a great country to visit and ride in. You’ll love it. |
Petrol
Only drawback....as far as I heard...is that petrol costs even more than what it does here in Italy...I heard it reached 2 euros / litre last year...!
Anyone got some more recent info on this? Re. Beer....I was there (sans bike) a few times...and I confirm that beer is no problem at all, (and pretty good in fact!) Cheers Giacomo |
Hi
I was in Turkey last week. Beer is not a problem in all over the country. Roads are quite good but take care of the potholes. Poeple are quite helpful. Meals are delicious. Weather is specialy adjusted by god for bikers. A road bike will do your trip. Petrol is 2.65 YTL this is about 1.55 Euros Good luck |
