What is the correct answer when asked the price of your moto? People are impressed by the big engine motorcycles but I don´t want to go around telling everybody what it´s worth... Then again I don´t want to be rude. What to do?

I got asked this very question yesterday.

I usually try to undervalue the bike without insulting the asker's intelligence. As a rough guide, when I'm thinking in pounds I might say dollars (since more people understand them anyway)!

I've had this "problem" when riding around Africa. If I told them the truth, I could see their faces drop. So I devised a strategy to get around this problem. If they said that they would want to buy my bike, how much? I would say that the bike is like my wife, and you do not sell your wife. But we could arrange a trade: They should bring me one or two of their sisters in exchange for my bike. Since I am 65 years old this usually diffused the situation, and we all had a good laugh.
