Mexican Border Crossing from US
 

Hi there, I was hoping someone would have some information / advice about crossing from the US to Mexico for the beginning of May. My current plan is to pass from Laredo, TX and drive straight to Monterrey early in the morning.

Laredo to Nuevo Laredo border crossing

My wife and I just did that crossing on April 13 with two motos and no problems. We are on the start of a year long trip through SA and this border crossing was our first. We were very nervous about it, as you seem to be.
Don't be worried, the friendly staff were very patient with our awful Spanish.
We searched a bit for Migracion/Aduana. Get through the border crossing proper and follow the signs continually to the left to go down and behind the inspection/crossing point. The signs say "Modulo CIITV". I'll try to attach a picture of the sign so you can recognize it but the signs are blue. You end up putting the river on your right side.
Get Pesos (cash) before the border, you will need cash for all the tolls. There is a toll before you cross the bridge to the Mexico side.
Good luck and maybe we will cross paths some time. We begin studying Spanish tomorrow in San Pedro La Laguna, Guatemala.

Don't forget that almost all border crossings involve a visit to Immigration and a separate one to Customs. The officers may be in the same office or separated by 100km and also the posts associated with the two countries may also be in the same room or 100km apart. Miss one and you will be in for a long trip back.
