Thought that Russia was now part of the Green Card insurance scheme? Sure I read that on here a few months ago.

The original post is not really "timely intel," because it's 4+ years old, and never explained the source of the info, nor where/ circumstances Russia border insurance could be obtained at those prices.

Yes, RU became part of Euro Green Card scheme as of Jan 01, 2009;

but nobody has reported--here on HUBB--actual recent experience obtaining RU cover either at border entry, or from Green Card broker/ underwriter.

I posted on a recent thread here that I obtained a green card in May 2009 and was explicitly told that Russia was not covered, although others reported that they obtained green cards which did cover russia, so I am not sure whether the problem was with my issuer or what.

I crossed into Russia from Ukraine in the middle of nowhere, and there were several insurance booths just before the Russian border. I think I paid about 1800-2100 rubles for a moto for three months coverage, but am not certain. Exchange rate now is about 35-1 to the dollar.

I got my green card a few days ago and Russia is not on the list.
