entering nepal with foreign registered vehicle
 

Is there any confirmation that it has not been possible to take a foreign registered vehicle into nepal for the last few months due to actions by the rebels? Has anybody entered nepal from india (sikkim ) recently? I am planning to take my motorbike from sikkim to katmandu in november 2004.

We entered Nepal from India via the border at Sunali in May this year with no problems at all. In fact the Nepalese customs dealt with the carnet better than most. Nepal is getting a lot a bad press at the moment. Based on experience I wouldn't miss it for the world. Yes there is trouble with the Moaist's, but they dont to bother tourists as long as you dont ride when they call a strike. There's also the daily riots in Kathmandu but again it's no where near the tourist spot of Thamel. Enjoy your trip.
