Bike insurance Ukraine Russian borders
 

Hi folks am shortly riding off from UK through Ukraine and Russia on my way to Iran -am wondering if anyone has recent experience regarding getting insurance at the borders for these two countries grateful for any feed back .

Hi,

My wife and I crossed both borders in 2014 and insurance was available at both borders, I can't remember how much it was, but it can not have been over expensive otherwise I would have remembered, however, I do remember waiting to cross from Ukraine into Russia and being asked if I wanted to buy insurance for Russia on the Ukraine side and the smartly dressed guy took me to his office (shed at the side of the road) and started filling in the form then told me that the cost of the insurance was 350 Euros I told him to forget it, then he told me that the Russians would not let us in without insurance, so again I told him to forget it.
We crossed in to Russia with no problems only 20m on the righthand side a shed selling insurance at $35 for a month.
