B.C. Ferry to Prince Rupert Sinks
Here's a heads up to anyone planning a trip to Alaska or the Yukon and intending to use the British Columbia ferry between Port Hardy and Prince Rupert in either direction. The Queen of the North, one of two ships which sail this route (the Inside Passage), was involved in an accident and sank about a month ago. All of the passengers and crew except for two persons were rescued.
The route has been thrown into turmoil and B.C. Ferries is searching world wide for a replacement ship. The schedule for the coming months is uncertain so advance planning and early reservations if possible have become rather important. There is a message about the remaining ship, the Queen of Prince Rupert, on the company's website, bcferries.com. Normw |
