Questions to ludnadrodze about America trip

I would like to know a few things about your South America trip:

What bikes did you use ?

Did you just put all your luggage in a plastic bag and strapped it to the seat :o))

How many things could you bring in that bag ?

PS: where did you find a girlfriend that likes motorcycle touring ? ;-)

Hi,

What bikes did you use ? - you will lough at us and loud - hondas nx125 bross bought in Lima, Peru, in some other countries known as xr 125 l, enduro scooter although I will argue that looks better than many others. 125 cc, air cooled, carburator, fun. Previously we bought two honda super cubs 50cc 25 years old from the farmers in the field in northern vietnam and made to Loas and Cambodia. There traded to some taxi tuk-tuk guys. Hired tuk-tuk and made a nice circle around Cambodia. 125 cc with a trailer :) parents in the trailer. fun. breaking like a road train for some 200 meters. so we though 125 cc without trailer would be nice change. it was - breaked better :) max speed 105 km/ h with the wind from the back. had to change carburators going up but we reached ... 5400 meters above sea level with this. of course on 1st gear and with 'leg help'. adventure. traded afterwards to some thefts in paraguay as no longer possible to do it leagally desite what lonely planet says.

Did you just put all your luggage in a plastic bag and strapped it to the seat :o)) How many things could you bring in that bag ?- yeah, everything in this bag. it was standard 75 liters rucksack. previosuly we traveled on horses in asia so we though why change. we got rid of some staff to make space for spares and repair kid for the moto :) honestly - enough space. we had everything - comfy tent for 2 and 2 bags, warm sleeping bags as we do not like frozing, stove and gas cartridges, pots, food, cloths and some 5 books. and these spares. and small chinesee compressor that worked OK helping children on the road to pump their footballs. also one pro of puting this on the bike in the back - we were falling quite often as not realy experienced bikers and this staf was not damaged directly, as it was 10 kilos no problem with balance. oh, forgot to add that althout these bikes consumes like 2,2 liters per 100 km we had 15 liters with us specially for remote Bolivia, so independence for 600 kms, nice.

PS: where did you find a girlfriend that likes motorcycle touring ? ;-)

on the web :) one of these findapartner services, i know pathetic. but it works. she is my 2nd wife. 1st was to extreme for me :)

we have never ridden bikes before starting that trip but then fighting with horses in kirgistan mountains we said enough, we have to have more controll and so it began. felt in love with the bikes. the only problem - do not know what to choose now - ktm 640 or this new beautiful yamaha teneras :)

hehe, Well done.

I admire your spirit of adventure!

How boring the world would be with only NORMAL people in it, give me some crazy people. You can hate or love them, but they're never boring.

Keep it up.

Poul
