1998 Suzuki DR350 for sale (Medellin, Colombia)

I recently bought a DR350 here but now have decided to move on to Europe.

The transfer process is simple.

First, you need a motorcycle approved license from your own country.

Then (here in Medellin) you put your details in the RUNT system at a driving school (privately owned, no queues, takes 10 minutes and is free).

Then we go to a bike shop on Avenida 33 and I will sell it to you using their service so they can handle the paperwork and we don't have to go to transito etc. This will take ~ one hour. At this point you can pay with cash or credit card (there is a 4% surcharge for credit card). I'll absorb the cost for their services.

Then you will have my papers and can ride your new bike with those but you will have to wait ~ 3-5 days for your paperwork to arrive to the bike shop.

This is all that is required for the transfer process.

The bike is a DR350 in very good condition. It's old but rides well. One of the rarer black models. Not much life left in the tires but a new set of Pirellis are cheap here.

Price: $1600USD or 5,300,000 Colombian pesos. I would much prefer USD because I'm leaving the country.

The catch (only a small one):
I'm flying out on March 13th and need to sell it before then.

Hey I have dropped the price to $1600. I have 2 weeks before I fly out and need the bike gone.

Thanks.

That was a great deal for someone! Congrats!

I was curious if your Suzuki was bought in Colombia ... or USA based?
Your simple outline regards title transfer was great ... but will this work for any bike? Including Foreign based bikes? We see many selling bikes there, most seem to be US based bikes. Can we follow the same procedure you outline to transfer title to new owner with a foreign based bike on a TVIP?

Any advice/help to offer here?

Cheers! bier

Hi Mollydog,
This was a used motorcycle purchased in Colombia.

We ended up using an online service for the transfer (Payoneer) so it was even easier than outlined in the description.

My gut feeling is that it would be very difficult to sell a foreign bike here or transfer the paperwork of a foreign vehicle. I haven't heard of anyone doing it that way.

My advice would be to buy here, travel around South America then sell it here again, if that's what your plan is.

I've bought and sold in Chile, Bolivia and Colombia. Colombia has been the quickest and easiest of the three as the transfer can be handled by a third party. If you buy new here then the dealer will handle everything in the same way, just inscribe in the RUNT, pay for the bike then wait for the paperwork.

Unlike the other countries there is minimal fuss and 100% certainty you will end up with a legal vehicle in your name.
