Of course, the current requirements regarding the corona pandemic must be observed during the event. I would therefore like to personally ask you to wear appropriate masks on the Great Street and to keep your distance. With the demo we want to set an example against discrimination against motorcyclists and not help the other side to put us in a bad light! - THANKS! See you in Nuremberg

There are coming more events like this in summer 2021 in Germany! :scooter:

I can't see what they're protesting against ?

Total ban on riding motorcycles at the weekend ? Surely not ??

Vaufi 29 Apr 2021 09:04

Relax. I cannot imagine that a complete ban on m/c riding on weekends will come on the way.

The main issue is to reduce traffic noise. Several road stretches, which are extremely popular with bikers, have in the past already been closed on weekends for motorcycles. These are usually near larger towns with lots of bikers.

The main issue is that many motorcycles (or riders) contribute extremely to high noise emission due to “sound tuning” resulting from illegal exhausts or muffler cutouts. Very often these individuals enjoy their “special” sound and keep the revvs high doh

As a result communities are testing noise cameras, like in London, like in Switzerland and other countries. This is IMHO a sensible solution to the problem, as it doesn't only target motorcyclists but also (sports-)car drivers with very noisy exhausts.

Rapax 29 Apr 2021 10:25

As Vaufi explained there certain tracks which are ridden by a huge mass of motorcycles at the weekends. This is causing an extreme noise disturbance in these areas and of course on all major roads who point to this areas.

Due to the german law it very difficult to close roads or to prohibit roads for motorcycles only by noise disturbance. Therefore a complex measuring system has to be the base for following legal actions. So towns and municipalities choose the easier legal way to close tracks by argumenting with a to high number of motorcycle accidents. Which is often the truth and caused by to high speeds on these tracks.

Another popular action which is right now in the discussion is to act like Tirol in Austria. Tirol prohibits generally riding of motorcycles with a standing noise above 95dB(A).

For a visualization how many tracks are closed or temporaliy closed on weekends in Germany, take a look here:

Its not only the noise ... yes thats one reason.
But there is another "great" idea in germany:

Our "green politics" in germany are suggesting:
To ban motorcycling in germany on sunday/saturday. (the whole day) doh
The next HU-Meetings in Germany (weekend): "You can take part with your bicycle ...!"

Nice try ... we have to take a ride! Thats only the beginning ...

May 1st, 2021, 3 p.m.

7,500 participants at the motorcycle demo in Nuremberg The "Ride Free 2021" demo took place at the Volksfestplatz. Around 7,500 motorcyclists took part. They protested against the partial driving ban for motorcycles on Sundays and public holidays demanded by the Federal Council.

Around 7,500 bikers protested in Nuremberg against the upcoming decision in the Federal Council on a temporary ban on motorcycles on Sundays and public holidays. The application was submitted to the Federal Council in May of last year by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and Prime Minister Armin Laschet.

Quote:

An online petition against the driving ban last year had over 205,000 signatories. The initiative criticizes, among other things, that a decibel number of 80 corresponds to the noise generated by a lawnmower. A complaint only needs 50,000 signatures so that the Petitions Committee of the Bundestag has to discuss the issue in a public session.

"To the best of our knowledge, the vast majority of motorcyclists are properly driving. To impose collective penalties, such as a route closure, on the basis of a few 'black sheep' is not appropriate." Gerhard Hillebrand, ADAC traffic president

I wish the demonstrators success.

I am no fan of leather baby suited idiots with 105 dB wah-wah toys and parades run by the Village People impersonation society, but that's what they should target, not a general ban on anything that triggers St. Greta's pantophobia.

I also wish them well but I fear the French way of doing things may not translate directly.

The British way around biker hot spots is to change the speed limit to 30mph and line it with camera vans :rolleyes2:

badou24 3 May 2021 16:39

No ban then ?::ban::ban:

Threewheelbonnie 4 May 2021 07:11

Noise detection is coming too.
