I eventually decided to start changing my DL650 K5 steering bearings as it had become very notch like. Boy was I in for a shock. I pulled it to bits and found some wild life has been living in my bike. I mean IN my bike! It stinks of piss and bedding and god know's what fell out. Kinda wondering how they got it there? See pic looking upward from under the front. No wonder the bearing was shot !

Anyone know if there are any openings into the frame on K7 dl650? Or have I got something bad going on  :helpsmilie:

Sh*t happens lol

A couple years ago, some mouse decided to use my goldwings air filter housing as it's home.
That's a 4 hour job to replace the air filter ffs.

VERY impressive, never seen anything like it in the steering head! Bad things elsewhere, but not there. Has to be a hole somewhere, from the steering head through the frame to...? Squirt a little air in there and see if you can feel it coming out somewhere - and then plug it! :censored:

You can also rub some irish spring brand soap around the area as
Rodents do not like the smell.

When I store a bike or car dor the winter I leave soaps under the bike and in the car.

Incredible! Must have been left stood for a while to make that much of a nest. Perhaps it was a dormouse? They hibernate over winter and are tiny.

Screw the rats next. Your headstock is a corroded mess.

Get that sorted before putting new races in. :rofl:bier
