Last Sunday afternoon 26mar17 Bob showed up at Rancho Los Rosales, actually I spotted Bob and his 650cc V-Strom riding, perhaps wobbling along US Highway 89 north of the Flagstaff, Arizona Mall.

He seemed distressed, so I flagged him down and discovered the V-Strom's starter had failed and he was looking for camping somewhere on a hill so in the morning he could coast down and continue his way back to New York.

Naturally I invited him to spend the night at Rancho Los Rosales as our guest. at no charge.... I explained our Airbnb was booked but he could sleep in the Noble Barn at the foot of the "Spy Bar" on the dance floor. And, I explained the best part is Rancho Los Rosales is on a hill! So Bob followed me to the ranch and we strategically parked the V-Strom with easy access to the hill.

To my astonishment before Bob dismounted his V-Strom he unbuckled his "SEAT BELT. " This was a first for me. When questioned Bob explained in great detail that the four suit cases mounted on his crash bars served as "AIR BAGS" and he was quite safe in a crash as long as he was wearing his seat belt.

Ok - Way to Go Bob.... I guess.... Photo DSCN4049 is Bob, his V-Strom with seat belt and me, xfiltrate looking a little worried...
Photo DSCN4046 is Bob, his V-Strom and the San Francisco Peaks as seen from Rancho Los Rosales. Photo4054 is me, the next morning, dutifully pushing Bob and his V-Strom down the hill and on his way back to New York City.

There must be some kind of award, or mention horizonsunlimited.com can bestow upon Bob for his creativeness. How about it Susan and Grant? Photo credit: rosa del desierto

I know you see this sort of thing all the time in Asia, but it's usually on a C90 and there're 3 other family members on board as well. Glad the 'Strom is keeping the side up for Suzuki!
On another note, it sort of makes the soft vs hard luggage debate a bit superfluous doesn't it.
"What you want is a nice little car, that's what you want!"
Ride safe Bob!
