USA health insurance
 

Hello,
I am currently planning and researching a big pan-american trip later this year. Currently I do not have Health insurance, and curious what other USA travelers have used. I have received a quote from world nomads for coverage outside the USA but struggling to find something reasonable while I tour the states. From my understanding is if I crash and break a leg in mexico World Nomad will cover everything to get me back to the states- then what (go into debt over our overpriced health care)?? I think that's how that works, not sure though I have never done this before- and although the trip seems more self explanatory the insurance side is hard to navigate and expensive. If anyone has a solution please reply, Thanks.

The following assumes you're a US resident, although you don't say one way or the other.

Buy insurance. The exact process differs from state to state, but if you're a resident you can do it. Choose a plan which suits you. Follow the directions.

If you wait another week (after Feb. 15th) you won't be able to buy in the usual way. After that it might be more expensive or unavailable, depending.

It's expensive only if you don't need medical care (i.e., if you need medical care you'll wish you had insurance to pay for it). Make your choice wisely. And....if you can't figure out how to buy insurance, the trip itself might prove beyond your capabilities. Seriously. If you need help, look for a broker.
