UK in Oktober

Hello
I have a question to the guys living there.
I'm thinking of a tour with my Buddy on the bikes in the first two weeks of Oktober.
Are there still camprounds available?
Silly but still important, rain, how often?
Bad idea or worth it?
Thanks sushi

There will be campsites still open in Oct but not as many as a couple of weeks earlier as many of them call it a day at the end of Sept. Have a look through this site - The UK Camp Site for Tent and Caravan Campers in the UK and you might get some idea of which ones are still open.

Regarding the weather, I'm not sure where you'll be coming from but all year round UK weather is a bit of a lottery as the islands are subject to unpredictable weather patterns mainly coming from the atlantic. If a low pressure area tracks a bit higher or a bit lower it can make the difference between a storm that tears your roof off and a sunny day. In early October the good days are still pretty good - dark around 7.00pm in the south and 15C or more but if an autumn storm tracks in though it can be pretty awful. And there's no way of predicting these things. Despite computer systems that have doubled the national debt the weather people got the exact track of this morning's rain wrong from yesterday and the predicted deluge hardly dampened the garden. Looking at October from July you might well ponder Dirty Harry's question - "are you feeling lucky".

Weather in Uk October?

If you prepare for wet windy cold conditions you will be fine. Some days may be warm and sunny. As backofbeyond says it's luck at the end of the day.

I normally get some good runs in October up here in the Highlands. However, I think camping could be a bit soggy, if only underfoot, and I'd be looking for rooms in B&Bs or pubs.

Thanks guys
That's what I thought, but was hoping for a "no worries, sunshine all year round".

We're lucky to get sunshine all DAY round here in Scotland, great country for motorcycling, stunning scenery, great roads but shit weather normally, come geared up and it'll be great, October see's some stunning Autumn colours

depends which bit of the UK as well. East is drier than West and south warmer than north as a rule of thumb.

If your somewhere like the lake district, which is beautiful in Autumn, and largely without the vast numbers of tourist from the summer, then if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it'll probably change!!

Uk

In the NorthWest area you have it all, coast, cities rural fantastic scenery. Weather it's a mixed bag , but not always the same weather for a few days.
Uk is a great country, north is more laid back I feel and friendlier. Hope you come. Come and enjoy the Uk. :thumbup1:

Pick a beautiful route, bring good wet weather gear (my golden rule: not gortex = not waterproof!) and you'll have a great time regardless. +1 for northern highlands of scotland, lakes and wales.

I took that post from about a day ago to mean the north west of the UK, i.e. in the NW of Scotland.
I was pondering on whether Glasgow constitutes the "cities" part of the post.

British weather is just awful. I suggest you go to Spain instead, it's great there in October. Lots of great twisty roads and low traffic.

Britain doesn't have a climate, just weather

Harsh but often true if one is unlucky.
I am referring, of course, to anywhere north of Watford Gap; south of there is semi-tropical in comparison.

If you don't like the weather wait 10 mins and it will change....
