A57 Snake Pass to close for 2 weeks

The A57 Snake Pass will be closed from Monday 1 June until Sunday 14 June so that major repairs can be made to the retaining wall in four different places. There will be no through route from Glossop to Sheffield for any vehicle while the work is taking place.

So what you may think but this is one of Britains most popular biking roads. Anyone touring in the north of England on 2 wheels could do a lot worse than making a detour to ride this road....when it's not closed of course!

Thanks for the info.

I'm on holiday from the 12th, so chance to either take in the new surface or find they over ran on the work!

Oh great! off to Skye on a short bike trip and planned to include it to see what it's like. 1st - 5th June :thumbdown:

A good alternative, if you don't mind a bit of weaving about and assuming you are headed East to West, would be A628 to the A6024 then A635.
Not the Snake but all 3 are great roads with spectacular scenery.
