Touratech UK really are muppets

For a company who's motto is “made for adventure”, Touratech UK have gone to great lengths to stuff my adventure.

Now don’t get me wrong I actually like and own some Touratech products, but is there another company less helpful than Touratech UK?

I am am 18 months into an worldwide motorcycle adventure and currently in New Zealand, about to depart to the UK to pick up my new BMW GS 800 Adventure and tour Europe for around 3 - 4 months before heading to Canada and the Americas.

My brother lives in the UK so I thought I would do the smart thing and order some stuff from Touratech UK to be delivered to my brothers address as I can use his workshop to set the bike up. Should be easy you would think, NOT WHEN YOU ARE DEALING WITH PEOPLE WITH LITTLE OR NO COMMON SENSE.

Good on you Touratech UK…..

First that denied me access to complete my order.

When I questioned them about “Blocking” me the said it was a fault with the website. This of course was complete lies as when I accessed the site using a UK proxy sever I could get access.

When I pointed this out they again lied and said they had just fixed it, but of course this was not true because at the same time I had access through a proxy sever I was still blocked when I used a New Zealand sever.

Just so we are clear, Touratech UK knew I was coming to the UK, knew I was buying a bike in the UK, knew I was getting the items delivered to a UK address yet this is what they advised me to do….

“As I can see you are based in New Zealand. You will need to order through Touratech New Zealand.
http://touratech.co.nz/shop/“

Are these fools for real. What am I meant to do carry the crash bars and other accessories as carry on luggage.

Well done Touratech UK, I have now voted with my feet and will buy precisely nothing from these incompetent idiots.

Most people say hello first, but you're off to a flying start anyway
Idiots are worldwide........they all combine to make the rest of us look normal :D

Have a great trip :thumbup1:

Hi Peter,
Seems to me same shitt with all copanies based in Europa and N.Amerika. Leaders of EU found the way how to squeeze evry tax penny out of your wallet.
Better sent mony transfer to your brother and ask him to buy staff for you.
I had similar situation with SW-motech and some American companies.

Had already forwarded a decent sum of money to my brother to purchase the items I wanted. Told TT UK on multiple occasions that it was for a UK bike and being delivered to a UK address.

All sorted now, brought what I needed straight away from another supplier and the other Touratech stuff is MUCH, MUCH CHEAPER IN EUROPE so I will buy it there.

Its good to know we still lead the world at something even if it is muppetry!

TT UK have a reputation for it and are maintaining it well I see.

A couple of links people might find interesting:

I've one or 2 TT bits that mainly came with bikes/ bike related items that I purchased used. The quality of the few TT items I've experienced is IMHO average to poor in comparison with competitors. Nowhere have I read of good service from TT UK.

When I do wish to purchase a TT product (which is v v rare), I order it online from TT-Germany (not going through any proxy server: my UK IP address will be there for all to see) and have it sent to my parents' house in Germany.

To the OP: Good that you've already found better/cheaper alternatives to TT UK.

The prices TT uk charge are well above TT Germany prices. It's difficult or not possible to order from them from the uk, however there are a few German sites where you can buy TT parts not directly from TT Germany, at much lower prices.
TT are very good at controlling their prices and unfortunatly anyone in the uk will pay much more, despite the favourable exchange rate.

Is this legal under EU law?

Perfectly legal.

You can choose who to sell to based on shipping, currency, legal conditions etc. If you paid in Euros, had the parts sent to an address in Germany, agreed to a contract in German (including all technical and warranty support) and so forth there would be a case for discrimination, but on practical issues the common market legislation has no teeth.

It's not at all surprising that a Swiss company hocking crap products is playing the international money market. Airlines do the same to the point where they have their own currency and clearing houses.

While I'm at it here's a brilliant way to save on airfares :-)

Use a Fake Location to Get Cheaper International Tickets
