The Thorntree travellers forum is no more, what alternatives?

I found out a while ago that the Lonely Planet Thorntree forum had been archived and now has been completely removed and I wondered if anyone had suggestions for an alternative?
The Thorntree did seem to be primarily aimed at backpackers and people not using motorised transport, a few hapless individuals posted motorcycle related questions in the on your bike section and received such unnecessarily rude replies that I reported the offending respondent and pointed the OPs over here but on the whole it was pretty good for questions relating to visas and the like.
There are some country or continent specific fora such as India Mike and Caravanistan but are there any others with global coverage?

The TripAdvisor travel forums, while mostly aimed at tourists and holidaymakers, does have surprisingly more adventurous content and covers every country.

www.4x4community.co.za is good for Africa - there's more discussion the further south in the continent however it's a good forum - more 4x4 than bike but still worthwhile.

There is a Reddit group (www.reddit.com/r/ThornTree/ ) which was set up as an "emergency haven for Thorntree" when Thorntree shut down. The membership is not very big, however the members are knowledgeable and it's a viable alternative.

I've contributed a few articles to the Morocco branch of the revamped ThornTreeForum at https://www.thorntreeforum.com/ but it's been generally dead with only 350 posts in five months on the whole site.

I have just taken a look at this one again and as you say Tim very little happening there, I did find the TripAdvisor forum helpful while in India and Nepal earlier this year and Caravanistan has produced some answers for a planned upcoming trip to Central Asia.
