Is there anywhere people sell RTW bikes on here?

Hello,
I'm not the best when it comes to navigating websites sorry but I'm looking to do a trip to the Himalaya next year from the U.K.... I'm better at navigating roads, don't worry.
I have a VFR800 at the moment but I want to change it for a RTW bike, preferably with some of the touring goodies already installed.
Is there a recommended place to search other than Ebay?

Cheers, bier
Baggsy

I would buy this 650V Transalp in a heart beat.

Link: Adv Transalp

I suggest you look around the 'For Sale' sub forums of the various Adv biker boards. Something special will crop-up sooner or later .. eventually, if you're patient.

To accelerate your search, start posting 'Wanted' requests on said sub forums.

I would work-out a short list of what you are really after first though.

Best of luck

Keith

Hi Baggsy and welcome,
You don't say where you are but I will presume the UK, apart from the suggestions Keith and Mark have made I would look up Touring Ted on this forum and see if he has anything up for sale. He not only rides them but sometimes puts together a travelling bike to sale.

You're not wrong..

I have a travel ready XL650 Transalp for sale (£2000) and I'm also building an xr650l which I'll be ready soon. (£3400)

I've got a Honda Dominator that I'll be prepping for sale over the next couple of months too.

PM if interested :)

Wow
I have bee trawling the net looking for a nice KLR or dr650 etc.. for ages!
One post on here and I'm spoiled for choice now.
I'm from Cumbria, U.K.
All these suggestions are bloody tempting, I'm 5'9 and no body builder so I'm looking for a lightish bike. One that will eat Himilayan trails as well as European roads. Ted, Your bikes sound interesting. I'll do some research and then PM you.
Thanks guys

I have two xr650ls.... Had three. They're becoming a little speciality of mine. :)

Hi Ted, I tried to PM you but the site wont let me yet because I'm too new.
I'm interested in your xr650l. Would you mind posting some details about it?

Thanks

Hey.. Well its a 2007. It had a very good engine so I've just done an engine service on it. Only 16,000 miles. I've removed and painted the engine and touched up the frame where needed. Going to fit a full stainless new exhaust system with tuning to suit New tyres, etc etc.. I've got a 23l tank for it and high bats etc.

Waiting for a couple of parts before its ready to MOT but shouldn't be long now.

Where are you in the country ??

Regards, Ted

Sounds good. I live in cumbria.
Will it come with any panniers?

ATM, there is no luggage but anything can be done.. Id recommend soft bags for this bike. There are luggage racks available off the shelf and I can fit anything as required. Everything is flexible :)
