PLB'S or what?
 

Just starting research into emergency beacons and I'm sure this has been covered somewhere. There are a lot of options and things to consider - can somebody point me to good information on this topic? What to look for, changing frequencies, best coverage, cheapest or what you are using?

TLDR: Get a Garmin and a subscription.

Just listened - thanks for posting. Without any budget concerns, the Garmin is the way to go, hands down. The guy in that podcast is full time rider who make his living riding. Makes sense. For a dude on a motorcycle who has to eat as well...I will tell you this much....its going near the top of the list to figure out how to afford.

Depends where you're planning to travel. Cellphone reception is pretty good these days, but for real out of the way places a PLB is still a good idea. I bought an InReach SE. Not the cheapest but allows 2 way messaging so you know if you send a distress call somebody has actually received it.
