Thereafter, I'll pull the trigger on something affordable. As long as it has two wheels I'll be happy. Need to put some money aside for a wedding and new house. That being said, I have loads of equity tied up in my condo. It's appreciated ~45% since I bought it a three years ago. |

:blushing:..... believe me... I'm just about loosing my marbles!!! Darren wrote Nina and I a great congratulations letter; in it he touches upon some great points about living a lifestyle free of "must have's and wants". Something I've taken to heart. It's easy to get wrapped up in what everyone else has - how nice this or that is. Alas, technology and construction are always changing - what's considered this year's hottest thing will soon be replaced by something better! :rolleyes2: So, maybe I won't have a fire breather this year (or next) - but in good time I'm sure my passion for two wheels will prove that whatever I'm riding will be just as fun. Adventure is the way there! Michael |
You and I both, but it turns out that's how you sometimes feel when things around you are really happening. And we tend to really question everything around us and our needs, desires, efforts and aspirations.
Those "must have's" are something we create as a need or a want all by ourselves, and it is amazing how much of an effect they can have on us. The things that you truly value in life are the only ones that are worth having and getting to know what they are I feel is the great accomplishment. So wanting my friend is in our nature, knowing what is really worth wanting is the true gift. Good to know that your perspective is right As you say when you want it bad enough it will come and that is where the satisfaction will come from. Heck you can ride mine any day you will get another some day. I know this is something that is part of who you are. Don't change, just grow, prosper and have the will to be happy. congrats btw Quote:

Well,
My baby was picked up by her new owner on Friday night. Really hard letting it go... so many good memories + hours spent wrenching on it. Thankfully, it's going to a good home and he's a keener... so I have no doubt he'll enjoy the bike for all it's worth + spend the necessary time and love keeping it in shape. This past weekend was spent looking at wedding venues in and around London. We're really happy with how things are going - enjoying the process and not letting the stress weight us down. |

Update:
I test rode a few bikes this past week... 2006 DR650 ($3300) with 35l tank: PRO'S - smooth motor - huge fuel range - mostly capable off-road (at a moderate pace) CON'S - underpowered - kinda boring... to be honest - no weather protection (zero fairing) 1991 Kawasaki Concourse ($1300) with yr.2000 motor: PRO'S - Awesome motor (cruise at 140kph all day!!) - Big panniers - Huge fuel range - Awesome weather/wind protection - Incredible touring machine CON's - HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY (~650lbs fully fueled) - FORGET ANY OFF-ROAD (super smooth gravel roads at the very best!) - high stand-over (hard to maneuver in parking lot) - ...a little tattered, but it's no biggie ....possibly test riding a 2001 KTM 640 Adventure tomorrow night (~$3000) PRO's - lightest 650 in it's class - good fuel range - off-road capable - decent weather protection (fairing) CON's - HUGE stand-over height!! - high maintenance valves - paint shaker motor (i.e. non-counterbalanced) ....also looking at a cheap XR600 ($1500) on Tuesday night Objective: Find an EXCELLENT do-it-all (i.e 650cc range) bike for $1000-$3000 - something fun, light, reliable, capable and comfortable. IF MONEY WAS NO OBJECT: I would buy a KTM 690R Enduro in a heartbeat! Outfitted with panniers and FMF pipe. **Importing one from the US is possible... via brokerage company only** |
Concourse
Anything dirt capable :funmeteryes: Hurry up and decide....the weekend bombing run to VT is only 2 weeks away. It could be a loooooong pedal if you don't find something. :mchappy: |
Update...
The Concourse is out of the picture. DR650 is sold KTM 640 ADV is sold ...all that's left (thus far) is a 1990 XR600R (blue plated) for $1500... rear drum brake and all!!!! http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/q...3825m14_20.jpg Looking at it on Thursday night. :scooter: |

http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/q...elsnewmoto.jpg 1994 XR650L - fully rebuilt motor (NEW: cam, valves, rings, piston, timing chain, sliders, gaskets, clutch), Clarke oversize tank + new drivetrain and tires. Didn't break the bank either!! She's be pampered and loved by her owner and put a BIG smile on my face during the test ride this past weekend! ....picking her up tonight.
