My bikes been stolen - Swansea UK

I'm having a bad day. Woke up this morning ready to head to Morocco on part two of my rtw and my bike is gone! Stolen overnight from my father's front yard - chain cut and signs of losing onto a van.

This is a long shot, but the bike is not common in the UK, so if anyone heats of any Kawasaki klr650 Tengai (white, green, blue color scheme) suddenly for sale please let me know. I'm really attached to the bike it's already carried me all the way through Russia and Europe to here and the plan was to do the whole rtw.

I'm also chasing up the local papers and radio stations to see of publicity achieves anything. Cross your fingers for me.

What a pain,

good luck with your attempts to trace the machine.

Do you have any images you can post?

Regards

Reggie

Chris, many thanks for the cross posting. Reggie, many thanks for the kind thoughts.

Latest news is the local radio has run the story and publicity is helping. At least one person has phoned the police after seeing it being ridden in Swansea city centre. The Australian number plate is the give away. There is hope yet, please keep fingers crossed for me.

Hopefully an image is attached this time - always have trouble with these. If not click the blog link and there are many.

I'm a swansea lad and just shared it on facebook for you from the local radio site. Hope you get it back fella.

This is my nightmare... hold on, gotta go check on my bike...

I really hope you have some luck finding it. I've heard that the UK is really bad for motorcycle theft. The rarity of the bike is going to help you because they might not break it down for parts, and it won't be that easy to sell.

A friend had one stolen just before Christams in the Swansea valley, it was found dumped on the side of the road in Mansleton, apparently a few local scroats are in that area so worth driving around there.

Sorry about the bike mate, real pisser, get on the social media sites. facebook/twitter etc and don't forget gumtree, the sooner you do it the better, lots ae luck mate.

lonepilgrim 14 Jan 2014 21:02

As a Tengai rider looking for parts I will keep my eyes peeled in case there is suddenly an influx of available parts

navalarchitect 15 Jan 2014 07:44

Everybody thanks for your thoughts. No updates to date bike seems to have gone to ground. I've pushed the local publicity, facebook, websites etc as hard as I know how so now I'm hoping that (a) they'll either get caught or (b) at least dump the bike somewhere where it is quickly found. Also checking Gumtree and EBay, never know they might be stupid enough to use them.

Today off to spread the word around local bike dealers, breakers, impound yard and the like. Will also try and get someone to drive me around some of the more "suspect" areas

Currently thinking about Plan B by looking at the various for sale websites last nights - old "adventure" style bikes are worth a bit more over here than I realised.

Again many thanks for your thoughts - and keep putting the word out.

Can you post better pic's?
I'll post it on my facebook page as well as on our local classifieds.
There is a chance it may end up this side of the pond.
If you do find it, I brought many parts from the USA in case you need some spares.

I've got the Isle of Sheppey and The Gambia covered! :thumbup1:

With any luck the Sh1ts that nicked it will KILL themselves riding it (do us all a big favour).

I hope you get it back in good nick (forgive the pun).

Local press has given me good coverage and I have milked this as hard as I can. Been in local paper and done radio and TV pieces. From this had an ineresting contact from a local biker with the address of a local scum bag to whom he lost a bike recently. He had to employ local muscle to get his bike back. Something to check out tomorrow. Could be an interesting day. Wish me luck.

hay sortie to here that , bike thieves are as bad as paedophile's as far as im concerned.
thing is , there has been a transit seen a few times nicking bikes. all I can say is get a gps tracker, iv fitted one to my gs1150, les that £100, if it moves it will tell you, and then notify you every 50 yards, and it does work . if they take it you can find them ! with in 10 meters . its a tiny un it, and it has a battery back up if they cut the power. you can hide it no problem . have a look, gprs tracker, it was a uk seller ,so you know it will have the right band. :) hope this helps .

No positive news on the bike at the moment - some leads, but whilst names are being mentioned they are hard to follow up and certainly prove anything (and they may have nothing to do with my particular theft).

What has been very heartening is the local support I'm getting from the Swansea bike and general community. That, and the support here and elsewhere on-line helps cover some of the pain. Many thanks to those who have sent best wishes.

Thats terrible news.

Please share the link if you post an online fund. Would be more than happy to give what I can and have seen others mention the same across FB shares
