motor bike STICKERS
Do they make you go faster ?
Do they make your bike look better ? Do they add value to it ? Most of us try to customise our bikes. but ....... some stickers just look awful ! ?c? |
Years ago I owned a Ford Puma. it was bright red, and the previous owner had put thick white rally stripes across the bodywork. And yes, they added 15 horsepower.
Currently I have a set of panniers with travel and other stickers on them, going two bikes back. They don't fit my current bike's rack, but I am keeping them for the future, and for sentimental reasons. So: Yes they do, yes they do, and yes they do. Let people enjoy things. |
Its well know in Ducati circles an AGIP sticker adds around 4HP whilst a Magneti Marelli adds at least 6HP.
Surely you knew this? Mezo. |
Can also cover up a multitude of sins........

I read somewhere that having an ADVRIDER sticker on your bike gets you visa free entry to some countries but cannot confirm this as I have never seen one outside of the US.
|
I only put them on bikes that are not going anywhere
By that I mean bikes that I'm going to keep for a while. There's very little point in plastering stickers over a here today /gone tomorrow bike. They detract from the value and you don't have the stickers when you sell it. So they go mainly on panniers, top boxes, windscreens etc; stuff that can get moved around and reused. That's one of the unmentioned downsides of soft luggage - stickers don't stick. |

What does it matter if some people like to put stickers on their bikes to show where they've been, & why would anyone be so naïve to think it adds value to a bike??
Personally l DO put stickers on my bike & will continue to do so even if a small amount of people (who may be 'bikers) think it's unattractive! |
I believe you may have misjudged the tone of certain posters. No one is seriously suggesting that stickers add value, make you go faster, or vault you to the front of the queue at borders. Neither is anyone seriously criticizing those who put stickers on their bikes (or those be-stickered bikes themselves).
Hope that's helpful. Mark |

Generally I think that stickers add a little personality to a bike, although generally I only put them on panniers, etc. Depending on the stickers they can also add a little cred and potentially indicate someone I'd like to have a beer with. |

and they did help tremendously getting through sand ! Call me for that beer !! it will have to be an long distance one! |
At least you can stick those country stickers on. When I first started bike travelling we had to use letraset to put stuff on panniers and draw out the flags. I never did go to Liechtenstein as it took too long to write it out
All you could get in the way of stickers were those car window pennants and they only covered over 60's hangouts like Bognor or Bournmouth. |

Dirt will do that sir
Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes!
I learned on that trip not to use hard cases ever again and to switch to Magadans but I do confess that the lid was useful for a host of things. (like stickers really are quite naf!! but if it floats your bike....stick-on :smiliex:) As always, Youth is wasted on the young... and... Wisdom on the old! Life's a :Beach: |
