Hi Everyone

New to Horizons.

I am planning a trip UK to India and need to understand what everyone is doing regarding insurance for their Motorbikes on this sort of trip. Europe is no problem but Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India is a real problem for me.

Any help or details would be greatly appreciated.

Insurance for the bike is always an issue - some places it's easy and good, others it's easy and a waste of money or a scam, and others there is none at all. As a general rule, you will be told at the border you need it, and you buy it right there. Otherwise, you are self insured for the bike.

For specifics I'll leave that to some who has been to your places recently-ish.

You certainly used to be able to get insurance for a temporarily imported bike in India, whether it was worth the paper it was printed on I never had to find out and that was some time ago, my recent trips there have all been on Indian registered bikes which have to be insured by the registered owners and cover all riders.

The countries that I am concerned about the most will be.

Iran -Pakistan- India.

In your experience do you feel that I will be able to get insurance at the border?
And if not what are the consequences if I don't?
