Greetings!
My name is Si and I am off around the world in six months to ride to and jump within as many dropzones as I can. I have always wanted to ride round the world and have a mahoosive love for skydiving so thought why not combine them and live some dreams! My house is on the market and I am going to build a fixed income portfolio to fund the trip. I have a six month contract to save some additional cash, get shit sorted, learn basic mechanics, sort docs and sell the house then the fun begins :-) I have over 500 jumps and can check my kit well but concerned about how long its gonna last on the back of a bike in the deepest shit! So... a plea for help! I would be most grateful for any advice you could offer... From DZs you know in obscure locations to tips about getting a bike and parachute (that contains small amounts of explosives for the reserve automatic activation device) across borders. I still have no idea about what bike to take or real clue about the task ahead, just a dream of blue skies over foreign lands and open roads :D Peace |
Hi
You look like you are pretty well organised. What route are you taking? DRs have been everywhere. Check out Mondo Enduro. The best bit of advice I can offer is to travel light. I certainly wouldn't recommend having a backpack on for long distance travel especially when the tarmac runs out. I would have thought that you can hire parachutes wherever there is a jump school. You have to trust them to have a safe plane so its not a big leap to trusting their parachutes. That said I can understand why you would want to have your own though. You are the first parachuting motorcyclist that I have heard about so you may just have to go out there and find out for yourself what the issues will be! Enjoy, Niall |
