Ferry from Vladivostok to South Korea

Hi all:

I am riding my Suzuki VStrom across Russia and will be in Vladivostok in about a week. I had planned to take the bike by ferry from Vlad to South Korea, and to ship it home to North America from there. However, the website for the only ferry that runs from Vlad to South Korea says they only take foot passengers, not vehicles. I have tried contacting them by email but to no avail. Do any of you know if there is a good chance of getting my VStrom on that ferry?

Thanks,
Ron

DBS Cruise Ferry carries vehicles and foot passengers.
I thought DBS was the only ferry company, but I guess there must be another foot passenger only ferry. A friend of mine just rode DBS a couple weeks ago, and his Africa Twin certainly doesn't qualify as carry-on baggage.

hope to get on DBS

Hi again:

I have no choice at this point but to go on to Vlad and hope that I can get on the DBS ferry somehow. Surely that big boat will have room for a tiny motorcycle, but they certainly say they are all sold out. If I have to I might be able to put it on a ship directly to North America. Do any of you have contacts for an agent who can arrange that? My only other alternative would be to box it up and put it on a train back to Europe (Bah!)

You will probably need him for clearing customs in Vlad for the ferry anyways.

Thanks Chris: At your suggestion, I just contacted the link you listed. Now I am waiting for a quote from Yuri.

I had hoped to ferry my motorcycle to South Korea and fly it to Canada from there, but after checking with DBS ferry I learned it would be over a week before I could go, meaning hotel bills and sitting around being bored, plus a large expense for my own ferry ticket and an even much larger expense for my motorcycle ticket. And all that would be before I paid to fly the bike home from Korea. I decided to check into shipping directly from Vladivostok instead. DBS contacted Yuri at Links, Ltd for me, and he came to my hotel, took me and the motorcycle to get it cleaned enough to pass Canadian customs, took it by van to a warehouse where he will load it into a container with three other motorcycles, and put it on a ship bound for Vancouver. At $1650 it isn't cheap, but I just wasn't prepared mentally to do the South Korea thing. So, I have to give a great big "thank you" to Yuri. I recommend him to anyone wishing to take their motorcycle from Vladivostok to North America.

Hey Ron Youngs

Did they give you an estimate how long it will take your bike to ship to reach its destination?

Thank you man
