Europe on bikes, 1953

Here is a lovely set of photos of a motorcycle grand tour of europe in 1953. Look how glamourous they look compared to today's scruffy lot! (Apologies to anyone who does tour in a suit!)

Enjoy. :mchappy:

What a lovely set of photos and record to have in your family memorabilia

Hi

Etherelda here, had to change account, email hacked long story.

Not my family but still cool none the less!

Great photos, I wonder if any of those bikes are still in existance, there might be a chance that the Brough is.
Those were the days you went to Savile Row before a tour rather than Hein Gericke.

Great photos and interesting read, anyone else any 'Golden Oldie' photos?

Great

They are fabulous pictures! A real credit to the motorcyclists of the old days.

Can't quite match the 1950's ambiance or the black and white "elegance" but here's some stuff from the early 70's. Standards definitely had slipped - clothing is more Woodstock than Saville Row :(

those are really cool!

Why do the 70s look so cool? I wonder how we will look back on the 2010s. Photos were so precious, now we are so trigger happy with the cameras

Ah, those were the days when a Triumph tool kit consisted of one very large adjustable spanner, no plug in diagnostics or specialisted dealer network needed then.

Nice pictures.
