Drowned bike,,,

DROWN your bike !
Top Tip !
If you drown your bike :rain: in a river ,, leave it for about 30 mins or more. then undo sump plug and drain the water out, when you see oil stop and tighten !

I take it this is from first hand experience?

Yeah, I know the feeling. I’ve had a few bikes I’d loved to have drowned in a river.

Before doing this I'd suggest checking the oil level in the sight glass or dipstick to see if anything extra has actually gone into the engine.

Depending on how dirty the area around the spark plug is, you may want to remove it (talking about single piston engine here). Then crank the engine and look at the "small fountain". Speaking from experience here.

I drowned my bike 3 times during BAM. Luckily all it needed was to take the spark plug and blow water off, none got into oil.

Good advice, thx

Glad I didn't follow the OP's suggestion and did it the way that actually works when a little mishap befell me in Mongolia in 2012. Apologies for the dodgy lycra shorts :D

The how to have a chance of not killing the engine starts at around 3 minutes in...

PS. Just noticed. I'm wearing the same blue MX boots today in India. 12 years later!
