What exactly is the celebration that took place today in India? I am in Mumbai at the moment, and this afternoon, there was quite a large parade, with firecrackers and people riding horses (actual horses) wearing similar looking costumes.

Does this have anything to do with the Holi holiday this past Thursday?

I'm not sure. But I think this is a festival to bid farewell to winter.
