Buying a motorcycle in peru...help!
Question....If I buy a motorcycle in Peru, how long can you keep a bike in the country? I am flying to Peru, to buy a motorcycle off of another traveler. He will have imported the the bike into Peru...and I will be putting into my name and insuring it. I'm going to ride it for a few months and am wondering if I can store it in Peru @ a friends place?? Ill be flying back to Canada but would like to leave the bike there for the next time I visit... Is there a maximum amount of time it can be left there? Or if I register the bike there do I somehow have to un-register it before leaving the country? (Sell to another traveler) ... Is it legal to sell a temporary registered bike(out of country bike) to a resident of Peru? If so I could sell it to my friend and just buy it back when I return..... any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The TVIP can be suspended and you can leave your moto in Peru for a longer time. I know Toby at adventure motorcycle tours in Peru and all South America - Home in Huanuco does this. Contact him for the details. He has a shop and storage available.
You can also contact Filipe at Motos del Perú tienda de motocicletas, servicio técnico y venta de repuestos in Lima and ask him about suspending your TVIP. I believe he does this too, although I have no direct experience with him. You should inform both these fellows about the title status of your moto, especially if you just bought it from another traveler. |
