What is the best time of year to leave England and why?

05.20 am, to miss the traffic.

I am not convinced that these are the most helpful of answers in every case. especially as leaving 05:20 might it them into traffic further down the road. Best start at 9pm and they should be clear of Dover by then.

Depends on where in UK you're leaving from. The Brussels ring road is always a nightmare, except at 3am. So plan to pass by there between 2 an 4am.

The end of last August would be a good time, avoiding the summer heat in Turkey and Iran and the monsoon in India which finishes around the end of September. This would also allow you to be out of this country now but failing to secure the use of a time machine next August will have to do.
