Best places to ride in UK
 

We are all a bit stuck where go on our bikes , but there are some fantastic places to ride in our country , if you know where to go !
For me its Wales on the "B " roads in the week. Been going there for many years and still enjoy the views and roads ! ( when its not raining ):rain::rain::rain::rain:
So where is your fave place in uk ?

Dover probably. That way I can quickly get across to France and down to the mountains (where I was last week). :thumbup1:

Scotland has some great roads but I am not sure about at this time of the year. Not for everyone I know but do a lot of my exploring by bicycle now, there are so many more out of the way places you can get to usually with some great wild camping opportunities, between the canals, bridleways and long distance trails such as The South Downs Way it is possible to see most of the country while riding off road.

There are many excellent roads, the art is to get away from the heavily populated areas. I've been living in Devon for nearly 10 years, it's a lovely area but I only recently discovered the road from Cullompton-Tiverton-Crediton, it's a beaut. Across Dartmoor is another treat, but everybody knows that one. You keep riding, you keep finding new roads :)

Highlands and Islands of Scotland for me, especially Outer Hebrides, but not in the dark winter months.

I still love the Peak District - I studiously avoid Matlock Bath - in fact I have never ridden through the place on a weekend even though it is 10 miles from home. For those that aren’t familiar with Matlock Bath it is one of the epicentres that motorcyclists tend to flock to and the town has accommodated them with more fish and chip shops than you would expect and a couple of motorcycle clothing shops.

The attraction though isn’t just the chips and the retail therapy opportunities it is the roads that get you there from Derby and Manchester - the Cat and Fiddle is legendary and is, sadly, the route that has claimed too many lives. Personally, I don’t get off on the speed but the Cat and Fiddle rewards even at more sedate speeds.

The whole area is beautiful and the roads are always entertaining - for me I prefer Wirksworth and Ashbourne to Matlock. Ashbourne is worth avoiding on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday each year due to the town playing football - you can get the idea on You Tube here:

I had forgotten that road. I agree - it is pretty special.

Wales and Scotland everywhere else is a gridlock disaster....!!!

The east Of England has a lot less industry and traffic.
Up through the Lincolnshire Wolds, Yorkshire Wolds, North Yorkshire.
We tend to avoid the Lake District on our bikes nowadays- lovely for a bit of walking.
I still go over to the Peak District on my trail bike occasionally.
Wales is a place I’d like to explore - really only ridden through it on my way to Ireland.

Everywhere else is a long weekend or more so limiting.

i try and get to mid/ north wales at least once a week, and keep well away from the hot spots !
I used to lead trail rides there , bit too many people turned up , , so i just limited 2/3 people.
But ................ I was thinking about a small group of bikers( no more than 6 ) on medium size Adventure bikes for a mid week run !
The pace will be medium to slow and take in some great roads and views, No big 1200 bikes and a bit of off road
