Twitter seems to me a particularly interesting solution for microblogging during your trip with twiter you can post text (140 character) directly from your mobile phone via sms, and if you have a wordpress blog (my case) direct on your blog ;) or you can post a picture via GPRS by sending an email from your mobile phone all this at the lowest prices and without carrying a notebook, only a average mobile phone |
Out of interest do you get charged from receiving updates from other people, particularly if you're roaming? I know you'll pay more to send in a text in, but can't remember if people still pay to receive texts when abroad.
Just a thought if you're following a whole load of people that you might want to turn the updates off if you're overseas. |

I follow Carla King (how I know is a member on here too) http://twitter.com/MissAdventuring and she tweeted very successfully during her recent Ural combination trip to Morocco and back. She used it to send both tiny snippets and also to keep people informed of blog updates. Semed like the perfect way to do it.
I do find though, I follow some people and am fascinated all the time, but many people only become interesting when they're actually doing something, so I get the feeling Twitter is a bit of a double edged sword. Perhaps it's like the song says "You tweet it best, when you tweet nothing at all". |
Hi folks. I've been using twitter for th past 3 months getting to Vlad. I have a widget on my wordpress blog so that I can update my blog with a single SMS.
It works brilliantly and is really useful when you're away from proper internet access for a while, plus it's so quick to fire one off when you're in the middle of something adventurous. I recommend it highly, especially if used ass part of your blog page. Al |
Just started (a year after everyone else it seems). Mindless, lager-sodden claptrap here:
