A joke (of sorts)

Thought I'd share a joke I heard just the other day:

A traveler, (No names, ahem...:innocent:) recently returned from several months touring, goes in to his local Suzuki dealer. "The trusty V-Strom has covered many miles, it could do with having the valve clearances checked and the throttle bodies synced". "How much will it cost to have this done"..? he asks said dealer.

A book is consulted, keys are pressed on a calculator......."We can do that for around £400" he says....:eek3::eek3::eek3:

BUT....Then comes the punchline......"Of course, any parts would be extra".....

Laugh, I nearly...........

What a bargain!

If the valves need actually adjusting, that is about the right price at dealer rates of 100 quid an hour.

Part of the reason that I do my own maintenance (the other being the difficulty in finding a trustworthy dealer).

The genuine Suzuki manual for the V-strom (Haynes don't do one) is 65 quid or about 40 minutes of dealer time.

You should try the place I bought my Wee. They can apparently change the air filer and spark plugs without taking the bodywork and tank off. Must therefore be cheaper? :innocent:

DIY. Done right, Done by someone who cares, Done within budget, Done on time.

The Dr. Strom videos on you tube and the manual tell you all you need to know. The manual can be downloaded for free on some websites or you can bay £6 on e-bay to have someone else break the copyright laws.
