91 gasohol in Thailand?

Is there any reason why I shouldn't run my '06 Transalp on 91 gasohol in Thailand? It's about 25% cheaper than the regular 91, and the cute girl at the filling station assured me that it would be OK...

Is this an Ozzie joke?

reading this...I begin to understand why women think that men are so easily guided by their....extremities....:innocent: but if 'Push-comes-to-shove' (no pun intended! :biggrin3:) you can put brandy in there too! (allegedly)

Shell Gasohol 91 is the petrol resulting from the blend of lead-free gasoline with 10% of ethanol or ethyl alcohol, which is 99.5% pure alcohol, as a substitute for MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether)
Shell Gasohol 91 contains a special formula that helps clean the fuel injection system making it possible for a complete combustion. As a result, it keeps the engine clean and maintains top engine performance.

Ha! I'm actually a pom travelling incognito...

Unfortunately the list of bikes in your link is limited to Thailand chicken-chasers, and so I am continuing to rely on advice from the cute girl at the filling station...

So far, she's been the most helpful person on the topic. In fact, I'm thinking of going back to find out what she knows about lubrication... (etc., etc., fade to close with smutty puns...)

Behave 'Pommy' Rob

................ Transalps are pretty tough but I don't know enough about the side effects (if any) of that fuel to say anything else.
Sounds to me that there maybe one more 'chicken chaser' around than one would have originally thought.....

"Helpful is she..."
does that help go as far as buying you a new engine? if the answer is 'no' then tread carefully! If it is 'yes'- get the money up front ... then buy her fuel!

This reminds me of an old saying....
" if there is a doubt...... then there is no doubt"

Standing-by for a possible 'Ker-bang'....
and if there is one- please post a picture!:mchappy:
Enjoy the Phad Tai !
