tl1000s battery not staying charged

I have a 2001 tl 1000s that has recently started going through batteries. It seems like the bike is not able to keep the battery charged. I just put a new battery in it 3 weeks ago and yesterday I left the ignition on for about 10 or 15 min. on accident and It drained the battery. I charged the battery and it started up just fine. I drove it home and when I went to start it again it was dead. I put in another battery and it started and I went for a test ride and it started to stall so I pulled over and turned off the bike. When i tried starting it again it was dead. I am not sure what or why its happening so if someone can help I would appreciate it.

Either your generator or regulator rectifier has failed. A mechanic or auto electrician will advise which.

Tests

I would agree that the most likely culprits are the generator or the regulator/rectifier. You can normally measure the reg/rec output with a multimeter. it should between 12 and 14v at any revs. If not check the earths leading to it.

If you have a workshop manual you, there should be a test procedure for the generator with the correct output values.
