tall rider on a V-Strom...
 

Hello everyone,

I'm considering switching from my KLR 650 to a V-Strom, only because I would like to do some riding 2-up and it's just not possible for me on the KLR. I'm 6'4" tall with a 35" inseam. Is it possible somehow adjust the riding position on the V-Strom, via seat height or lowering the pegs somehow. I've sat on a stock bike and there's quite a bend in my knees that I fell would become unbearable after a long day and I do like to ride all day.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

I got a kit which lowered pegs an inch and moved them slightly forward. If you're prone to aggressive cornering this might not work (I'm not, but I do drag pegs now on occasion). The kit would be easily reversible if you wanted.

The last I heard, folks were switching saddles between DL 650 and DL 1000--this makes the 650 a bit taller. You can also do any of a thousand things to raise seat height, ranging from cushions to adding foam to sheepskins to Airhawks. I'm sure you could also pay for a custom seat, were you so inclined.

Marks suggestions plus some highway pegs to let you stretch your legs out might do the trick.

I'm 6'4" with a 36" inseam. My 2008 wee-Strom has an airhawk with a sheepskin seat cover on top and I regularly ride 1000+ km days, the max being 2000 km in 30 hours, with no problems at all. When I bought it, 119,000 km ago I initially thought of fitting the taller seat from the 1000 but found I didn't need it.

The 2012 model has the option of a taller seat from the dealer.

The best airhawk for the strom is the small pillion size installed crossways. I tried the one recommended by the manufacturer but found it to be uncomfortable because the air displaced towards the front and gave me terrible pins and needles right where it hurts. I've heard of others having the same problem.

Deolali, I'd be super interested (same height, same bike) in hearing what screen you use. Is the stock screen on the highest setting good enough, or are you using some tried and tested aftermarket solution?

I've got a Givi screen on a Madstad bracket. Bought the screen first, but I think the madstad bracket would probably have done the job of eliminating the buffeting using the original screen.
