Hi Sheff,

Firstly welcome to the HUBB :)

Take a moment to fill out your location so it appears in the top right corner of your posts and people here will know which market you are buying things in and can help you easier.

There are basically 2 midpipes that are made in the USA:

DR650ProdList.htm

Suzuki DR650 Parts, Accessories, & Performance - ProCycle (scroll down to exhaust)

My buddies with DR650's and me all bought the Keintech midpipe - it is really well made and looks as good as the day I put it on, but its more expensive, there is nothing wrong with the Procycle made one though.

If you cannot afford this pipe + shipping, depending on where you live, you could get the stock GSXR midpipe with the 4 bolt flange, take it to an exhaust specialist and they could expand a pipe that fits onto the header and weld it up to fit the flange - you could also pay more and get it made in stainless steel and get them to make a stainless flange - if you are going to pay quite a bit already, may as well do it well, mild steel will just corrode and be a waste of money long term. When my DR gets too tired I will just buy a newer (used) one and transfer all the parts over.

let me know if you need any more information.

Hi Sheff

I recently imported a DR from the states along with a box of bits from ProCycle including a mid pipe. I managed to find a can from a 2001 GSXR on fleabay which weighs next to nothing and will fit it soon but want to complete the registration process before fitting any modifications. I'll post on here how it all fits etc

Sorry

Too late to help you but pro cycle one worked a treat. Easy fit all parts included. Don't be tempted to use existing bracket as I was because it fits. Grind it off and use strap. Probably better in terms of crash proof flexibility etc. Yes I'm very pleased with all the pro cycle stuff and phone them up. Guys there are really knowledgable and helpful and like me you might end up ordering extra stuff on their recommendation. I felt they were more interested in getting me set up rather than selling stuff. You can call 1p per minute if you download some app or whatever. Just google.

I used Kientec as I was ordering other parts from them. I like the sound and weight saving not sure if it really did a whole lot with the BST40

Right, the GSXR muffler alone will not add much power or torque, but I find the DR pulls a bit better in the midrange once other mods are made ... and it's not too loud, which is nice.

Very little will happen unless you mod the Air Box and re-jet BST40 Carb to go along with the better breathing muffler.
Adding a FMF Power Bomb header will also help power and torque. Open air box, replace needle with ProCycle one and slightly larger main jet and be sure to add extended Fuel Screw ... makes it easy to tune in changing altitudes.

DR will run stronger/smoother everywhere, fuel economy should still be good if jetting is correct. The GSXR muffler only takes off 7 lbs. from stock muffler. Every bit helps! :D

If you like, you can install the GSXR muffler (Titanium) and the stock bike will run just fine ... requires no re-jetting, but there is more power there if you like.

I see that Jesse at Keintech is no longer making the mid pipes, he has 'semi retired' which is a shame for the DR650 community, but Procycle mid pipes are still excellent quality, I helped my buddy Nevil fit one last week.

Well worth doing.

I've now fitted the pipe, installed the jet kit and done the air box mods It makes a noticeable difference/improvement mainly to low and mid range. Pulls like a rattling train now.
