Suzuki DR650 available in Poland?? How?
 

Hi all. I have been looking for a Suzuki DR650 for a while. As it is no longer sold in Europe it is not so easy.

But then I found 2 ads in Poland on Mobile.de:

I have communicated with the first seller and he tells me he imported it from Canada and send me pictures of registration papers and everything.

Is there anyone from Poland here who can support me on this one. I am pretty ready to head to Poland to get this bike - if there's a chance I can register it in Denmark

yes, I have also seen it on Mobile.de

I am pretty sure it should work with registering it in Denmark. But I have never done it myself and I also dont live in the EU anymore. I would suggest, that you ask your local registration office how its being done to change the Polish document and number plate. But also ask the seller if the bike is registered in Poland or if it has the documents of a new bike.

Would be interesting to know once you have done it. So please let us know here.

Hi Mika. Yes, he has legit registration papers on it. Just don't get how he has been able to register it there under the same rules as the rest of the EU.

the rules are not the same, as this shows you. I dont know how he managed to get around the emission laws. But I know that Polish import/registration rules are a lot easier to get things done. A Polish company buys all the used bikes (trade ins), where I work in Switzerland (non EU) and they have no problem getting EU documents for them. But this are used bikes, not new.

Ten years ago a friend of mine imported bikes from Japan to Germany, he had to get them first into the UK and documents for them before being able to register them in Germany. But it was very costly so he did it only for himself and a few friends, that wanted that particular model.

Pls tell us here how it went with getting the bike to Denmark.

I bought a brand new DR650 this summer from Poland.
Drove it 1500km from Poland to my home town (EU state).
It is a Canadian model with the odometer in kph.
As far as registration goes - no problems at all.
According to EU legislation - once the bike is registered in an EU state it can change
registrations across all EU member states.
The bike you are looking to buy is from a batch of bikes imported to Poland this year
that were quickly sold to interested people.
The Polish papers look exactly the same as mine did when I bought it.

If I were you I would not worry about any registration issues, but the upcoming
winter in Europe.

I've just now checked the second link from your post. It is where I bought my bike from, although the price has already gone up...
The salesman was very responsive and cooperative by registering the bike in my name (Polish temporary plates, valid papers, insurance, etc.)

DR650 in E.U.
 

Hi I am part way through registering a DR650 in the U.K. The bike I bought was sold new in Canada, and shipped over to Russia by its Canadian owner. He did not want to ship it back to Canada and offered it for sale on the HUBB. I bought the bike and had to pay the import duty of 6% plus 20% VAT in order to register the bike in the U.K. I am now preparing the bike for the M.S.V.A. I have not yet made an appointment for the test, having read the guide I have changed the speedometer to an American MPH, other than that I believe it will pass. I do need a certificate of manufacture to establish the age of the bike. The Canadian paperwork I have does not show date of manufacture. The M.S.V.A. test costs £85. Once passed as the bike is over 3 years old I will then need an MOT and Road fund Licence another £100 or so. So if you want to import a DR650 you have to pay 26% on the total cost of your bike including shipping etc plus about £200 in test fees, plus any modifications required to pass M.S.V.A.
