DRZ400sm Windshield/ Windscreen help
 

Yo yo yo peeps!

I'm looking for a specific type of windshield. It's the same one as the bike on the left of this picture (the one further away).

I can't see the name on the windshields properly (I'm guessing they're the makers of the product?). I've seen a few on the nets such as the two here:

Suzuki DR650 & DRZ400 dual sport Windshield- This is a our newly designed windshield for the two most popular Suzuki dual sports
(This one looks stupid. Thin at the bottom then thick at the top.)

(looks better, but twice the price as the one above and doesn't look as savvy as the one I'm after).

Anyone else got any suggestions to good looking windshields for the DRZ?

It looks like it could be that same as the one on the bike on the right of the picture but with the sides trimmed off (which looks like the ones in your first link). The shape of the "vent" above the headlight looks the same.

Acrylic is pretty easy to work with so have a look at screens on other bikes with a view to trimming to fit.

Don't mount it too solidly though; you want it to break away when your face hits it when you crash. Maybe the plastic number-plate-type bolts would do the trick.

Post some pickies when you get sorted.

Those guys are charging crazy money.. especially the one for 200 notes ! :helpsmilie:

Buy a piece of perspex (acrylic) off ebay for about £15 and with a heat lamp, slowly mould it into shape. Drill some holes and bob's your wobbley nob''

Upto you how far you go with support arms etc.


If that's too much like hardwork, buy a Universal "SPITFIRE" screen made my Fabrini. About £50-60.

I spent ages looking for a Fabrini to find it didn't exist... Fabbri however do make a Spitfire windscreen for a motorcycles ;)

Cheers. I didn't think typing 'Spitfire Fabrini' and 'Fabrini Spitfire' would make such a difference to the search results.

Unfortunately none of these are going to look very good on the DRZ (why do all these custom windshields look so terrible?!), but I may have to make do with the spitifre. Still, the 24inch one for $200 is a tad tempting. But I'd be looking at around £150 once shipping is included. :(

Unfortunately, cosmetics and functionality don't often go hand in hand with real overland travel...

You can either "look cool" and spend a fortune doing it (Touratech/GS club) or do what just "works" !

I think that is Joe and Stan from Maui, Hawaii.
They rode DRZ400s, and the screens in those pictures say Maui something.
I am not sure, but I think they post on Horizons under the names joemamamaui and traveldog .
Try searching for those names and asking them who made their screens.

Very well. If I can't find the owner of the original pic I'll probs make do with the spitfire. £60 is rather reasonable.

It looks like a Screens For Bikes screen from Australia.

Sorry to take so long to reply - yeah, the bike in the background in the OP
has a trimmed Cee Bailey windshield, very easy to work with. I also
shimmed and mounted it at a steeper angle, went for the "dakar" look. Works great, survived the trip, and lived happily ever after. The untrimmed windshield in the forefront broke in the waist.
